Art in the Park at Lake Superior ParkThe "Friends of Lake Superior Park" was established in 1993 under a cooperative agreement with Ontario Parks.  The Friends of Lake Superior Park is a not-for-profit and a registered Charity.  It is one of the 13 Friends organizations with the Ontario Parks system.  Information on other Friends organizations can be found here.

Gasoline

There is no gasoline available within Lake Superior Provincial Park.

South: No gasoline available in 2016 in Montreal River Harbour; next closest gasoline service is 60 km/36 mi. south at Pancake Bay and 70 km/42 mi. south at Batchawana Bay (open 7 days a week).

North: Gasoline is available (7 days a week) at 3 gas stations north of the park in the town of Wawa.

 

Accommodations

Spring (May 6 – June 17, 2016)

  • facilities and services are limited
  • trails, canoe routes and day-use areas are open as snow and ice conditions permit
  • Mijinemungshing and Gargantua roads may open later than May 6, depending on snow conditions

Lake Superior Provincial Park is a 1,600 square kilometre (618 sq. mi.) park located along the eastern shore of Lake Superior. The park is accessible via the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 17), which passes through the park for 83 km (52 mi). The southern boundary of the park is a 90 minute drive north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (130 km / 81 miles), and the northern boundary is only a 10 minute drive (15 km / 9 miles) south of Wawa, Ontario.

Exhibits about Lake Superior

The Visitor Centre is located at Agawa Bay. The displays highlight how "The Power of Lake Superior" has influenced the cultural and natural features of the park area.
